We arranged for an ecological baseline assessment and coordinated the preparation of a referral under the EPBC Act. We negotiated with the mine exploration team to reduce the extent of proposed vegetation clearing to within limits acceptable to the Federal Government.
The Government ruled that Assessment via Preliminary Documentation only, would be sufficient. This was a good outcome for the Project, as it meant an approval timeframe of only 6-9 months rather than a full-blown approval process, which would have taken 12-18 months to obtain, thus causing significant delays to the Project.
